Movenpick Centaurus Hotel
Islamabad, Pakistan
Set within the landmark Centaurus Development on Islamabad's Jinnah Avenue—a high-rise, mixed-use complex designed by the international architectural firm Atkins—the Mövenpick Centaurus Hotel (Operated and Managed by Accor) occupies one of the dedicated towers within the complex, and comprises 365 guest rooms and suites, along with a complete range of hospitality amenities, spanning approximately 36,000 square meters of interior space.
Blu-Beirut was entrusted with the complete Interior Design of the hotel, following earlier architectural and shell-and-core work by others.
We grounded our design approach in a Multi-layered conceptual matrix that responded to several primary references, including the natural setting at the foothills of the Margalla Mountains and, further afield, the Himalayas; the formal architectural framework of the tower; the deep historical, cultural and artistic heritage of Pakistan; and the mythological and astronomical narratives embedded in the Centaurus theme.
This framework informed both macro-level spatial strategies and detailed material selections. Public spaces were planned to provide clarity of movement while offering layered visual experiences, with particular emphasis on framed vistas, and natural light. The palette across the hotel integrates stone, wood, brass tones, and coloured textiles reflecting on the coloured traditional pakistani fabrics and crafts, all calibrated to convey a quiet, contemporary luxury that remains contextually grounded.
Subtle design references—drawn from regional geometry, craftsmanship, celestial symbolism, and landscape tones—were abstracted and integrated into elements such as flooring patterns, lighting installations, and custom woodworks.
Across guest rooms, lounges, spa facilities, restaurants, and ballrooms, the interior architecture maintains a coherent language that bridges modern hospitality standards with site-specific resonance. The outcome is a five-star hospitality environment that reflects Accor’s operational requirements while offering a distinctive sense of place within one of Islamabad’s most visible developments.
